Just a quick snippet while I break from editing this little session:

I absolutely love taking pictures of little twins! It really is twice as fun. But I WISH I had gotten a picture of us 'behind the scenes'... you wouldn't know it by looking at the shots, but there was SO much stuff being hauled back and forth for these two lil' guys! A two-man stroller, food/milk for two, ginormous diaper bag, a roll-on bag full of outfit changes, a Grandma, a Mom, a Photog, and all the props I come equipped with! I don't know how their Momma does it. I really don't.

Unless it's true what they say, that their cuteness makes up for all of it, because, well, just look...

After the big holiday rush with the photo business, I've really been enjoying spending more time with the creative side of photography these days. And although this blog is almost 100% (ok, probably really is 100%) full of photoshoots I've done of other families, I have taken the camera to my own family and explored studio photography. Of course, I had to just lay out a white blanket and use one of our white walls as the backgrounds, but I have gotten pretty addicted to the amount of control you can have with setting your own lighting and doing everything in the comfort of my own home! Even though nothing can come close the gorgeous look of nature and the warmth of the sun, there's definitely a little bit of studio photographer in me. And I thought I'd let her come out and play for a bit ;-)

(my talented Mother behind the lens ~pictures of her after these~, posing and editing by me. Oh, and my Mom did my hair. I could NEVER get it to look that good on my own.)

I LOVE this shot of Zach. It is 100% HIM. Golf polo, destroyed denim jeans, cowboy boots, and a handsome smile.

And now a few that I took of my Mommy-dear. She makes the perfect model. For obvious reasons ;-)

Honestly, how many Moms out there rock the leather jacket, skinny jeans, and riding boots?

We call this one the "Estee Lauder" shot ;-):

So fun! Thanks, Mom and Zach for indulging me. It was really freeing to be able to completely 'create' with these shoots. A break from the norm is always refreshing!

Fun Little Project

I decided I'd tackle a project I've been wanting to do for YEARS... I have been OBSESSED with Saturday Night Live's host pictures since they started them. I pause the TV every time one of the shots comes on and study it... I love the lighting, the posing, and especially all the artistic coloring. LOVE all the colors! So, I thought I'd take a stab at it and see if I can't get close to the look! And I just want to say, even though she looks WAY too old for her age and all she brought with her was a white tank top, my little sister Chloe friggin' rocked this shoot. No joke :-)

Girl got game!

Here we go...

I can't get in trouble for putting 'SNL' on there, can I? Sorry, Lorne Michaels, but it just wouldn't be the same without it!

Ah, another engagement session at last! I feel like it's been forever seen I've posted one (or shot one, for that matter) and I LOVE doing engagement sessions.

This little gal here is my cousin and her handsome fiance. I was in California for my Grandfather's funeral and my cousin got engaged the day I arrived... soooo, photog-family member to the rescue! (Although, I have a VERY talented family and no doubt there were plenty of others who could have done a fabulous job too... ahem, Michele for starters ;-) But I'm so glad I got the opportunity! They were clearly madly in love with each other and not the least bit shy about it (one of the reasons why I love shooting engagements). Aaaand they brought along their longboards for us to play with! Shoot = Success? 110% yes.

Anyway... here's the happy couple:
